Just finished Bob Woodward's 'War' and wow—this book is a rollercoaster. It's dense but surprisingly readable, which is rare for political deep dives.
The way Woodward breaks down the Russia/Ukraine conflict is chilling. US intelligence knew Putin would invade, but Zelensky didn’t believe it. Biden’s team walked a tightrope between supporting Ukraine and not provoking Putin further. The behind-the-scenes details are wild.
The Israel/Hamas section is equally gripping. Biden urging Netanyahu to show restraint while Israel goes full throttle? Feels like watching a car crash in slow motion. The Saudi normalization angle adds another layer of tension.
And then there’s Trump—lurking in the background like a storm cloud. Woodward doesn’t sugarcoat it: a second Trump term could reshape these conflicts (and not in a good way). The book’s timing is eerie, dropping right before the election.
Short chapters keep it moving, but fair warning: it’s long. Still, if you want to understand the chaos of modern geopolitics, this is your bible. 5/5 stars.
