After ditching my overly complicated Honeywell thermostat, the Aowel AW721 has been a breath of fresh air. No more fighting with unwanted programming features—just straightforward temperature control.
The large backlit display is a game-changer, especially for my aging eyes. Unlike some budget thermostats with tiny screens, this one is actually readable from across the room. The white backlight makes midnight temperature adjustments possible without turning on lights.
Installation was surprisingly painless. The clear labeling matched my old thermostat's wiring perfectly. I appreciated not needing a C-wire (though check your system requirements). The battery compartment is easily accessible—no need to remove the entire unit when batteries die.
The deadband adjustment is my favorite feature. Being able to set a 2° range prevents constant system cycling. My HVAC doesn't kick on every 10 minutes anymore, which should extend its lifespan. The temperature offset feature fixed a minor calibration issue right out of the box.
Two minor complaints: The mode switch is frustratingly small—I sometimes need reading glasses to confirm if it's on heat or off. Also, while the display is large, it could use better illumination in dark rooms.
For the price, this thermostat delivers exceptional value. It's been running flawlessly for months, maintaining consistent temperatures without any quirks. If you want simple, effective climate control without smart features you'll never use, this is a fantastic choice.
