Just got my hands on these Dual Smart Plugs, and here's the real deal after using them for a while.
First off, setup was a breeze. The SmartLife app recognized them instantly, and connecting to Alexa was smooth sailing. No hub needed – just plug, connect, and you're good to go.
The dual outlet design is a space-saver, but be warned: the plug placement on the back left side feels a bit unstable. I kept worrying it would fall out, though it never actually did during my testing.
Voice control works like a charm with both Alexa and Google Home. Being able to control each outlet individually is a nice touch – perfect for when you want to turn off just the lamp but keep the fan running.
Now for the quirks: That QR code sticker on top? It's ugly and permanent. The plugs show up as three devices in your app (one mysterious 'master' that seems to do nothing), which is just confusing. And why only 2.4GHz WiFi in 2024? Come on.
Safety-wise, they seem solid with overload protection, but I wouldn't use them for high-wattage appliances. They're great for lamps, fans, and holiday lights though.
Bottom line: They work well for basic smart home needs, but the odd design choices and Matter implementation quirks keep them from being perfect. If you can look past these issues, they're a decent value – especially compared to problematic Wemo plugs.
