I recently got my hands on the YOUSU 3D Glow-in-the-Dark PLA Filament bundle, and it's been a mix of excitement and frustration. The filament comes in a pack of four vibrant colors—green, blue, purple, and rainbow—each promising a magical glow effect after exposure to light.
First, the good: The filament prints beautifully. I had no issues with clogging, warping, or layer adhesion. The extrusion was smooth, and the finish looked clean under normal light. The dimensional accuracy is spot-on, making it reliable for detailed prints.
Now, the not-so-good: The glow effect is hit or miss. After charging the prints under sunlight for 30 minutes, the green and blue filaments glowed decently, but the purple and rainbow were barely visible. Under UV light, the glow was more pronounced, but still not as vibrant as I’d hoped. It’s a fun feature, but don’t expect a jaw-dropping glow like some reviews claim.
One standout feature is the filament’s compatibility. It worked flawlessly with my FDM printer, feeding smoothly without tangles. The vacuum-sealed packaging with desiccant kept the filament dry and ready to use.
Overall, this filament is great for party decorations or novelty prints, but temper your expectations for the glow effect. If you’re after reliability and a bit of fun, it’s worth a try. Just don’t expect it to light up the night like a neon sign.
