Just finished Night Road and wow... my heart is still recovering. This book had me sobbing into my tea at 2AM. Kristin Hannah has this magical way of making you FEEL everything the characters do.
At first, I thought it was just another tragic teen drama (eye roll), but the way grief unravels each character differently? Masterful. That scene where Jude destroys the kitchen? I had to put the book down and breathe.
As a mom, some parts wrecked me. The raw pain of losing a child was almost too real - like Hannah reached into my chest and squeezed. But that's why it's brilliant. It doesn't sugarcoat how messy love and loss can be.
Pro tip: Don't read in public unless you're cool with strangers seeing you ugly-cry over a paperback. 10/10 would emotionally devastate myself again.
