Just finished reading Watchers and wow, what a ride! This isn't your typical boy-meets-dog story. It's got suspense, sci-fi elements, and some seriously creepy moments that kept me up at night.
The way Koontz writes Einstein (the super intelligent golden retriever) is just magical. I swear I could almost hear his 'WOOF' through the pages! The bond between Travis, Nora and Einstein feels so real - it's like you're right there with them.
That lab-created monster though? Nightmare fuel! The scenes where it's stalking Einstein had me holding my breath. And don't even get me started on Vince the hitman - what a weirdo!
What really got me was how the story balances heartwarming moments (like Einstein learning to communicate) with genuine terror. One minute I'm smiling at the dog's antics, next minute I'm checking my locks!
Finished it in three days because I couldn't put it down. Now I want a golden retriever AND a home security system. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who loves dogs with a side of sci-fi thriller!
