I’ve been using the RunCam Helmet Camera for a few months now, mostly during cycling and airsoft matches. The bendable design is a game-changer—it sticks to my helmet with the included magic tape, and I can twist it to capture exactly what I need without fumbling.
The 1080p video is surprisingly crisp for the price, though low-light performance is grainy (as expected). The 7-hour battery life is legit—I’ve recorded full afternoon sessions without a recharge. But the microphone? Awful. It sounds like someone’s muffling it with a pillow, so don’t rely on audio.
Biggest gripe: the SD card formatting. Like others mentioned, it ONLY works with FAT32 (not ExFAT/NTFS), and the manual doesn’t warn you. Took me an hour of troubleshooting before I figured it out. Also, the app is clunky—connecting to WiFi often stops recording, so I mostly use the one-touch dial instead.
For the price, it’s a solid pick if you need a no-frills helmet cam. Just don’t expect GoPro polish.
