Just got my hands on this limited 2025 Blu-ray edition of Chicago's Greatest Hits and WOW. The Dolby Atmos mix is like hearing these classics for the first time - especially '25 or 6 to 4' which now has horns coming from every direction!
Paid $25 on Amazon which feels like robbery for this quality. My home theater setup (Bose 900 + sub) makes the Quadio mix shine - though fair warning, this ain't for soundbar users. The separation on 'Saturday in the Park' makes me feel like I'm actually in that park.
Funny story - I bought this mainly for the hi-res stereo tracks (192kHz vs CD's 44.1kHz) but ended up obsessed with the quadraphonic mixes. That said, the Atmos version of 'Colour My World' sounds... odd? Like they got too creative with the placement. Still worth 5 stars though.
Pro tip: If you still have your dad's old Chicago vinyl, burn it. This Blu-ray makes those hissy SQ matrix LPs sound like AM radio. Only complaint? Now I want ALL their albums in this format!
