After months of battling warped prints and failed first layers, the Layerneer Bed Weld Original has become my 3D printing holy grail. That moment when your massive ABS print stays perfectly flat instead of curling like bacon? Pure magic.
PROS:
- The foam applicator is GENIUS. No more gloopy glue sticks leaving uneven blobs that ruin surface finish. Just press down, swipe, and you've got a perfect invisible coating.
- Water solubility is a game-changer for cleanup. Unlike hairspray residue that requires scraping, this wipes off with warm water - though I add a drop of dish soap for stubborn spots.
- The thermal release properties work exactly as promised. Prints hold like concrete during printing but literally pop off when cooled - I've had a 14" square plate detach with just a gentle tap.
CONS:
- Texture plate users BEWARE: This works best on smooth surfaces like glass or PEI. Those negative reviews? Probably from people ignoring the compatibility chart.
- There's a slight learning curve. Shake well, apply at room temp, and let it dry completely (takes about as long as your bed heats up).
REAL-WORLD TEST:
Printed a full-bed ASA enclosure panel (200x200mm) during a cold snap. Normally this would warp catastrophically, but the Bed Weld held so strong it actually lifted my magnetic sheet slightly - yet released cleanly after cooling. Mind blown.
For the price of about $0.05 per print (one bottle lasts me 6+ months of daily printing), this has eliminated 90% of my adhesion headaches. Just upgraded to Subscribe & Save because I'm never going back to glue sticks.
