After my puppy turned my Echo Dot’s original power cord into a chew toy, I took a chance on this affordable replacement. Here’s the real tea after weeks of use.
The Good: This cord is surprisingly sturdy for the price. The 5-foot length gives me way more flexibility in positioning my Echo Dot than the OEM cable. It works perfectly with my 4th-gen Dot—no compatibility issues, and the PVC coating feels durable (and so far, puppy-resistant). For under $10, it saved me from buying a whole new Alexa.
The Okay: The barrel plug does feel slightly looser than Amazon’s original. While it hasn’t disconnected during normal use, I wouldn’t trust it if I constantly moved my Echo around. The power brick is bulkier than expected—not an issue for me, but might matter in tight spaces.
The Bad: One unit I ordered had inconsistent connectivity right out of the box (twisting required to maintain power). Quality control seems hit-or-miss—most work flawlessly, but check yours immediately.
Verdict: At this price point, it’s a great emergency backup or pet-damage replacement. Just test it thoroughly upon arrival. For critical setups where reliability is paramount (like an Echo Show used as a smart home hub), spend extra on OEM.
