Let me start by saying these boots are a game-changer for winter. The Sorel Women's Explorer Next Joan boots combine style, comfort, and functionality in a way that makes braving the cold almost enjoyable.
The waterproof suede exterior is legit - I've stomped through slushy city streets and snowy trails without a single drop getting through. The 100g insulation keeps my feet toasty even in sub-zero temps, but they don't feel bulky like some winter boots do.
Comfort is where these really shine. That removable EVA insole? Genius. I've worn them for entire days running errands with zero foot fatigue. They didn't need any break-in period - comfortable right out of the box.
Traction is excellent on icy sidewalks (no embarrassing slips yet!), and they're surprisingly lightweight for how sturdy they feel. I love that they work equally well with jeans for casual outings or can dress up slightly for work.
Now, about sizing: I'd say they run true to size but slightly narrow. I went with my usual size and can wear thick socks comfortably, but if you have wider feet, you might want to size up.
The only minor quibble? The ankle cuff could use a bit more padding - sometimes the fleece lining bunches when first putting them on, though it's an easy fix.
After testing them through snowstorms and daily wear for weeks, I can confidently say these are worth every penny. They've become my go-to winter boot - warm enough for serious cold but stylish enough that I don't feel like I'm wearing snow gear to brunch.
