Let me start by saying this book had me hooked from the very first page! The psychological tension builds beautifully, and I found myself constantly questioning who to trust - just like the main character.
The characters feel incredibly real, with their flaws and vulnerabilities laid bare. I could physically feel Ramona's pain and confusion as the story unfolded. That said, I agree with some reviewers that her character could have been developed more - she sometimes felt a bit one-dimensional in her bitterness.
The plot twists? Absolutely mind-blowing! Just when I thought I had everything figured out, another layer would peel away. The final reveal genuinely shocked me - I actually gasped out loud during my commute (earning some strange looks from fellow passengers).
Now for the not-so-great parts: The editing issues are real. I noticed several continuity errors (apartment vs house) and name mix-ups that pulled me out of the story. In the Kindle version especially, these stood out like sore thumbs.
The writing itself is engaging and easy to read - I finished it in two late-night reading sessions because I simply couldn't put it down. While some found the 'twist' predictable, it completely blindsided me (maybe I'm just terrible at guessing?).
Would I recommend it? Absolutely - with caveats. If you can overlook some editing flaws and want a gripping psychological thriller that plays with your perceptions, this delivers in spades. Just don't expect literary perfection - this is pure page-turning entertainment.
