Let me start by saying, these shoes are a mixed bag. I've been using the Very Fine Men's Dante Dance Shoes for my salsa and ballroom classes for about a month now, and here's the real deal.
The suede soles are absolutely fantastic - they provide just the right amount of slide and grip on the dance floor. That double sole feature at the ball of the foot? Genius! It makes those quick pivots in salsa so much smoother and less punishing on my feet.
Comfort-wise, they're pretty good out of the box. The memory foam padding is noticeable, especially during those 2-hour practice sessions. And can we talk about that arch support? As someone with flat feet, I really appreciate how stable they make me feel during waltz sequences.
Now for the not-so-great parts. The sizing is... weird. I usually wear a 10.5 but had to exchange them twice before getting a decent fit. Some classmates had similar issues - either too tight or too loose with no in-between sizes available.
The aesthetics are another thing - they do look a bit orthopedic compared to flashier dance shoes I've seen. If you're competing, you might want something more stylish.
Durability seems okay so far, but I've only had them for a month. The scuff marks some reviewers mentioned haven't appeared yet in my pair, but I'm keeping an eye on that.
Bottom line? Great functionality for the price if you get the right size, but don't expect runway-worthy looks. Perfect for practice sessions and beginner dancers who need comfort over flash.
