After testing the MOES Smart Programmable Thermostat for a month in my 2-story home, I'm impressed by its value but found some quirks worth mentioning. The sleek white touchscreen looks modern and responds well to taps - a huge upgrade from my old honeywell dial thermostat.
The Good: Installation was surprisingly easy despite my lack of C-wire. The included adapter worked perfectly after watching a 5-minute YouTube tutorial (the manual could be clearer). The Tuya app integration is seamless - I love adjusting temperature from bed when I'm too cozy to get up. Voice control via Alexa works reliably for basic commands like "set temperature to 72".
The Annoying: The remote sensor's 9-foot range limitation makes it practically useless for multi-room monitoring as advertised. My unit initially showed temperatures 3°F lower than actual - had to dig through app settings to find the calibration offset (Menu → Setting → T/H Correction). The touchscreen becomes unreadable if sunlight hits it at certain angles.
Pro Tip: If your HVAC has an O/B wire, search online forums before installation - the manual doesn't explain this well. For homes without C-wire, the power module works but may cause slight temperature reading discrepancies until calibrated.
Final Verdict: At this price point, it's a great starter smart thermostat despite minor flaws. Just don't expect Nest-level polish. Works perfectly for my gas furnace and central AC after initial setup hurdles. 4/5 stars - loses points for confusing documentation and sensor range limitations.
