I recently took these Kalisnhon walkie talkies on a hiking trip, and overall, they performed well. The sound clarity was impressive, and the range held up nicely in open areas—perfect for keeping in touch with my group.
The battery life is a standout feature. With moderate use, they lasted 3-4 days, which is great for weekend trips. The included charging dock is convenient, though I wish there was an option for replaceable batteries in a pinch.
The NOAA weather scanning function is a lifesaver. During our hike, we got timely updates about an approaching storm, which helped us adjust our plans. The flashlight is handy too, though it lacks a red light mode for night photography.
However, there are some downsides. The earpiece feels outdated and uncomfortable—I ended up not using it. Also, while the range is decent (about a mile), it drops significantly with obstacles like trees or buildings. Not ideal for RV backup communication, as one reviewer noted.
Build quality is sturdy but plasticky. They survived a few accidental drops, but I wouldn’t trust them in heavy rain despite the weather sealing claims.
For the price, these are great for casual use—hiking, biking, or neighborhood check-ins with kids. Just don’t expect professional-grade performance.
