As someone who recently got an Amazon Echo, I was excited to dive into this user guide. The book does a decent job covering the basics—setup, connecting to Alexa, and simple commands. The step-by-step instructions with diagrams were helpful when I first unboxed my Echo.
However, I quickly realized most of this info is available for free online or through Alexa herself. The guide feels repetitive if you’ve already tinkered with the device. That said, the section on optimizing voice commands saved me frustration—I kept saying 'Alexa, turn on lights' too fast until the book pointed out pacing matters.
The biggest letdown? No troubleshooting tips. When my Echo randomly disconnected from WiFi at 2AM (why do tech issues always happen at 2AM?), the book had zero solutions. I ended up Googling it like everyone else.
If you’re a total tech newbie or gifting an Echo to someone elderly (like one reviewer mentioned), this could be worth skimming—but only as a Kindle freebie or borrowed copy. For everyone else? Alexa’s own help section is more dynamic and up-to-date.
