Okay y'all, I've been grinding with these Pimsleur Turkish CDs for about 3 weeks now and here's the real tea ☕
First off - the structure is GENIUS. Like, who knew repeating phrases after a hot Turkish voice would actually stick in my brain? The spaced repetition thing works way better than those boring textbook exercises.
The pronunciation breakdowns saved my life! Turkish has some wild sounds (looking at you "ğ") but they slow it down enough for my basic ears to catch on. My Turkish friend actually complimented my accent last week - flex!
BUT... it's not perfect. The biggest L? No written materials at all. Like how am I supposed to text my new Turkish friends when I don't even know what these words look like? Had to supplement with YouTube vids.
Also the vocab is kinda limited? Learned how to order tea (critical) but not how to ask where the bathroom is (also critical). Pro tip: pair this with a phrasebook.
Final verdict? If you're going to Turkey soon and need survival Turkish FAST, this is your best bet. Just don't expect to debate politics by the end of it.
