As a long-time Jack Reacher fan, I couldn't wait to dive into this latest installment. The action starts fast and doesn't let up - classic Reacher style. I found myself reading late into the night, just like old times.
What really stood out to me were the clever new twists that bring our favorite hobo investigator into modern times. The tech-heavy plot creates fun tension with Reacher's famously low-tech lifestyle. Though I did catch myself thinking 'Come on, Reacher, it's 2023 - you should at least know what Uber is by now!'
The middle section dragged a bit compared to Child's usual pace, but things picked up with an explosive finale. The fight scenes had that perfect bone-crunching realism we expect, though one particular takedown in a diner felt almost too brutal even for Reacher.
While not the strongest in the series, it's still a solid adventure that delivers what fans want: smart detective work, justice served Reacher-style, and yes, that inevitable steamy encounter. I'd recommend it to any Reacher fan, but maybe temper your expectations if you're comparing it to the early classics.
